First hunt: epilogue

The man had a strange aura to him, strong sure, but not just that, confidence, not exuding, his aura had a peaceful calm to it, like the night, but not really antagonistic, he sat on a nearby rock facing them.

'' Thank you for taking care of him'' he said, pointing towards Cross
'' So he was coming for you ?'' said the rookie
'' Yes, he was after my head'' he said, '' you seem to dispute ''
'' It is under control'' said the sniper '' no need for your interference ''
'' The bounty is not clear, we need an outside perspective'' rookie
'' The bounty is for the sniper, he shot first, that being said, you should be compensated'' said the man
'' I think you should take Silva since you're the only one here to withstand its mighty blow'' he continued.
'' The sniper hid in the trees while I took the prey head-on'' reiterated rookie '' this bounty is mine however you slice it''
'' Without his stealthy bullets you'd be dead, that's the simple truth'', '' you were too reckless and he had your back''
'' In that case, we can divide the loot'' rookie, ''that seems fair''
'' It seems fair, but I am sorry, I need all of it, and besides, legally it's mine'' sniper
'' I've seen the way you look at that sword, you divide the bounty then you divide the sword'' said the man '' stop playing games and let him have it'' he said
the rookie smiled faintly '' you're quite perceptive'', '' alright then here's my proposition, you claim the bounty, but I take Silva, and you will owe me one job as a support''
the sniper smiled '' you have a deal young man'' '' but only as a support, never lead''
'' Of course'' rookie said, '' now a shake of hands for a deal well struck''

They shook hands, the sniper took the head, put it on a leather sack, and went straight towards the city, he gave a small wave along the way.

'' Now onto business'' initiated the old man '' congratulations on your first successful hunt''
'' Not that successful, my bounty was taken under my eyes''
'' And you got your life, I'd say you're the biggest winner of the evening'' affirmed the old man. '' besides I doubt that the bounty is what drives you the most in this job''
'' you think you know me, don't you old man? ''
'' I do actually, I truly believe I do, you're young and fearless, I've been looking for someone like you''
'' What do you want from me, ...''
'' Zolf, call me Zolf ''
'' What do you want, Zolf?
'' I want you to join me in an adventure'' said the old man as his eyes sparkled, '' a voyage of discovery if you will ''

The youngster was suddenly interested in what the old man has to say, something about how he said seemed to have struck a chord in him, and he did not care to hide it.

'' Where do you want to go? '' he asked, and a smile began to draw on his face
'' We will cross to the other side my boy'' declared the elderly,  ''We will make the voyage that everyone dreads and cross the waters to the other world''.

The rookie could hardly breathe.
